6 Popular Salts for Bath Salts and Their Benefits

In my recipe today, I use Epsom salts and Pink Himalayan. But, depending on your own specific needs…you can substitute any of the other salts listed!

  1. Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate): Known for its muscle-relaxing properties, Epsom salt can help relieve tension, soreness, and inflammation. It can also help to improve skin health and reduce stress.

  2. Himalayan Pink Salt: Renowned for its rich mineral content, Himalayan pink salt can help detoxify the skin, improve circulation, and promote relaxation. Its pink hue is due to trace minerals like iron and magnesium.

  3. Sea Salt: Sea salt is rich in minerals like magnesium, potassium, and calcium, which can help to nourish and hydrate the skin. It can also help to exfoliate and soften the skin.

  4. Dead Sea Salt: Extracted from the Dead Sea, this salt is highly concentrated in minerals like magnesium, potassium, and sodium chloride. It can help to soothe skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, as well as promote relaxation and detoxification.

  5. Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate): Baking soda can help to soften the skin, balance pH levels, and reduce inflammation. It can also help to alleviate itchiness and irritation.

  6. Magnesium Salts: While magnesium salts are often included in Epsom salt, they can also be found in other forms, such as magnesium chloride or magnesium oxide. Magnesium can help to relax muscles, reduce stress, and improve sleep quality.

One of the most important parts of creating effective and safe bath salts at home is to choose the right oils or oil blends for YOU.

Below I’ve posted my top choices for doTERRA blends, along with a list of single essential oils that are calming, stress reducing and soothing.

You can use any of these options to make your own (with the recipe HERE).
