Notes

Here are the main reasons why it's important to add essential oils to a carrier before mixing them with bath salts:

  1. Dilution: Essential oils are highly concentrated and can be irritating to the skin if applied directly. Diluting them in a carrier oil like coconut oil, almond oil, or jojoba oil helps to reduce their potency and prevent skin irritation.
  2. Better Absorption: When diluted, essential oils can be more easily absorbed by the skin, allowing their therapeutic properties to take effect more effectively.
  3. Enhanced Solubility: Many essential oils are not water-soluble, meaning they don't mix well with water. Diluting them in a carrier oil can help to improve their solubility in water, ensuring that they are evenly distributed in the bath salts.
  4. Prevents Clumping: Adding essential oils directly to bath salts can cause them to clump together. Diluting them in a carrier oil first can help to prevent clumping and ensure that the oils are evenly dispersed throughout the bath salts.
