The most healing essential oils for stretch marks and scars + rollerball recipe.

Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts with powerful therapeutic properties which make them extremely effective for addressing stretch marks and scars.

When they are blended with a soothing carrier oil (to further enhance healing), they offer a wide range of benefits like:

  • Nourish the skin: Many carrier oils are rich in vitamins and fatty acids that help to hydrate and repair the skin.

  • Promote healing: Certain essential oils and carrier oils have properties that can help stimulate skin regeneration and improve elasticity.

  • Soothe and calm: Natural remedies can reduce inflammation and irritation, helping to ease the appearance of stretch marks and scars.

Understanding Stretch Marks and Scars

Before diving into the top healing essential oils, it’s important to understand what stretch marks and scars are. Stretch marks occur when the skin stretches rapidly due to factors such as pregnancy, weight gain, or growth spurts. Scars, on the other hand, are the result of the skin healing after an injury or trauma. Both conditions can impact skin texture and appearance, but natural remedies can play a supportive role in improving their look and feel.

Here are some of the most effective essential oils for addressing stretch marks and scars:

  • Helichrysum

  • Frankincense

  • Yarrow Pom

  • Myrrh

  • Rose

  • Rock Rose

  • Sandalwood (Hawaiian is my top pick)

  • Roman Chamomile

  • Tea Tree

  • Lavender

  • Geranium

  • Cedarwood

  • German Chamomile

  • Carrot Seed

  • Rosehip seed oil

  • Opopanax

  • Elemi

  • Yarrow

Carrier oils (like the ones in my recipe) are used to dilute essential oils and enhance their benefits. They also provide their own nourishing properties.

Here are some excellent carrier oils for stretch marks and scars:

  1. Temanu Oil: This thick, rich oil is dark blue or green (depending on when it’s harvested) and helps make collagen and other components of your skin. Along with its wound healing abilities, it can also help reduce scars.

  2. Rosehip Seed Oil: Rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins A and C, rosehip seed oil promotes skin regeneration and helps reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks.

  3. Baobab Seed Oil: This luscious, golden oil absorbs quickly, and can encourage skin’s natural repair processes on deep levels.

  4. Jojoba Oil: This oil closely resembles the skin’s natural sebum, making it an excellent moisturizer and skin softener.

  5. Coconut Oil: Known for its deep moisturizing properties, coconut oil helps to keep the skin hydrated and can improve the appearance of stretch marks.

  6. Vitamin E Oil: Not really a main carrier oil, but a wonderful addition to support moisturizing and healing of skin.

So, there you go! Healing and supporting our skin naturally is actually quite easy, safe and heathy if we have a few simple tools at home, (be sure to check out my recipe for this basic rollerball). And remember, essential oils are versatile and have similar properties. If you don’t have one oil, try another with similar properties.
