I am honored you are here, (because I know it took a couple clicks to get to this page). Here’s a little bit more of my full story, a full 48 years around the sun.
I was born in Fort St. John, British Columbia in 1973 to two kind, hard working, loving parents where I grew up until I was 17 years old.
Not really having a plan, I headed off to Grande Prairie, Alberta to go to college. My main reason was to play badminton. School and my education, unfortunately wasn’t really a priority. I still learned a lot and grew as a young adult.
From there, I found myself a touch lost and bounced around from college to college enrolled in courses that were geared towards becoming a school teacher. Most of my time was spent teaching aerobics and partying. I look back now and realize I was very lost.
I wasn’t happy. I was quite depressed and suffered from bouts of bulimia. From GP, I headed to Kamloops where I taught up to 23 fitness classes a day and rarely attended school. I was physically fit, but emotionally extremely unhealthy.
The summer I went home from my first year at college in Kamloops, everything changed when I met my good friend’s big brother. His name was Mark Timmins and the rest was kind of history from there.
Ironically, from the age of 5, (when I tossed my mom’s cigarettes down the toilet), I was concerned about what was healthy and unhealthy. Let’s just say, she was angry, but I thought I was doing something that would help her, lol.
Once meeting Mark, things really changed. He helped me see I was miserable and not on the right track. So, I let go of someone else’s dreams, (of being a school teacher), and followed a career I was super passionate about…animal medicine.
Off to Fairview college I went and became a certified Veterinary Technician. From there we moved to San Jose, California and I was fortunate enough to practice at a couple amazing Veterinary Clinics in the Bay area.
Mark went to school in San Jose, (chiropractic) and I worked at a couple clinics and volunteered at the San Jose Humane Society.
And then life brought us our first big shift…a baby. His name was Cian. I moved home early and from there it all changed.
We started a chiropractic practice, (the first of its kind) in Grande Prairie, Alberta. I was Mark’s assistant, marketing person, human resource lady, cleaner, leg mover…you name it, I did it. And we juggled taking care of our first born.
Being a mom and building the clinic has been one of the most rewarding achievements of my lifetime, but creating the clinic and raising my gorgeous, kind, wonderful kids, (we have 4), meant my own career was put on a back burner.
Now that my humans are now older teens and young adults…I have more time for my yoga, oils, and creating, (simple website design etc.). And that’s what brings me here, right now, with you.
It’s been a long road. Every single step along the way has taught me something. There have been some extremely challenging times, but I wouldn’t trade my journey for anything.
