Gift Guide 2022:

50 holistic gift ideas for the woman who already has everything she needs.

Hello and welcome to my Gift Guide for the 2022 holiday season!

This year’s theme: 50 ideas for the woman who already has everything she needs.

Does this sound like someone you know? Perhaps a mom, sister, friend, aunt or grandma who:

  • doesn’t really want or need anything, but still enjoys small surprises.

  • has a simple wardrobe but loves quality pieces, especially locally or sustainably sourced items.

  • believes living with less is enjoyable…quality over quantity.

  • lives holistically and is environmentally conscious, (or tries her best).

  • loves supporting local businesses.

  • enjoys giving a little more than receiving, (but still appreciates small, usable gifts)

  • loves anything and everything to do with healthy and natural living.

  1. Stasher Pack. they describe themselves as “The Endlessly Reusable, Radically Functional Storage Alternative to Single-Use Bags”. They’re cute, reusable and look like a eco-conscious company. Here’s their blog!

2. Pillow cases are hot right now. The Blissy pillow case seems to be on everyone’s radar as well! These ones are made with 100% Pure Mulberry Silk and made with the highest quality 22-Momme silk materials. They’re a little higher end, so if you’re looking for a more cost effective pillow case, I love the satin pillow cases from Kitsch! For a full review of the The 7 Best Organic Pillow Cases for Sustainable Sleep, click here.

3. Zero waste bar of soap and bamboo dish. There are so many local businesses that make amazing soaps. Personally, I prefer the bars with lighter aromas and have been infused with essential oils but if you are looking for fun scents, they typically have to add synthetic fragrances. So, for the soap, definitely purchase local, but if you’re looking for a soap dish, you can usually find them at places like Bed Bath & Beyond, or online here.

4. Market baskets. Oh my, I love, love these!

“Alaffia market baskets are used traditionally in West Africa to carry produce to and from markets or farms. Created in in Bolgatanga, Ghana in 12 villages with more than 5,000 women basket weavers, the Alaffia weavers work independently in a creative process. Members of Alaffia basket cooperatives receive fair wages and health care for their families in return for indigenous skills and knowledge. This exchange empowers West African communities and preserves cultural heritage. Each basket is completely unique and the leather tag inside is personally signed by a weaver. Made with wild-harvested Savannah grass.”

Here in Grande Prairie, Eileens Plants has a wonderful selection, but I know you can find them online as well.

5. For the diy expert or someone who is obsessed with mason jars, I highly recommend these toppers. A fun gift would be to also add some cleaning recipes or a popular essential oil blend so they can create their own “holiday themed” cleaner on Christmas day, (yes, some of us really love that kind of stuff, lol).

6. An aromatherapy book. Here are 3 of my favourites…

8. Infinity scarves. My favourite scarf is this one from Lululemon..

9. Cute sweatshirts with fun sayings. Check your local businesses! One of my favourites in Grande Prairie is Harpsons

10. Personalized gifts are all the rage this year! T-shirts with fun mom sayings, personalized jewelry, tote bags with her favourite pictures…the ideas are endless. You can work with local stores, or there are so many companies online that make it affordable and quick to deliver.

A few of my very favourites:

  1. Canva (create your own design and they will print)

  2. Staples.ca

  3. VistaPrint

  4. London Drugs

11. These repurposed Sari Patchwork Aprons are a really unique, special gift if the woman in your family loves to cook and bake and loves supporting worthy causes around the globe.

12. You can never have too many steel straws! Peek at this guide to the best reusable straws. And you know what goes well with steel straws? A really hot tumbler for packing your water everywhere you go. I’m a Yeti junkie, so I highly recommend their product. You can easily get it customized as well!

13. A gift certificate to a local maker who holds fun, creative workshops to make beautiful diy items for the home. Here in Grande Prairie Nest holds some pretty awesome workshops!

14. Massage gift certificates. Seriously, who doesn’t love a good massage? Or perhaps an Ayurvedic treatment from Leslie Lovlin.

15. Gift cards for a private yoga session. Teachers often offer private classes for small groups, (such as myself). Customize it and enjoy a class that is exactly the way you love it. Or if yoga isn’t her thing, but she loves meditation or reiki, I highly recommend Crystal Kirkham.

16. Pedicure gift certificates are always a special treat. Build a basket with the certificate, foot soak and cozy socks. I highly recommend Holly. Here’s her FB page!

17. A pair of cozy pj’s. Check out this guide!

18. Blankets. Blankets & more blankets! A woman can never have too many cozy, colourful blankets. To make gifting a blanket a little more meaningful, check out some of your local businesses! Chunky blankets, weighted, a good ole holiday themed blanket from Home Sense! If you’re looking for a special quilt, handcrafted in the Peace country, connect with Cam Gunness out of Fort St John :)

19. Journal and pens. Here’s a cool list of sustainable, eco-friendly journals. You could even add in a virtual gift of the app: Prompted Journal, (daily journal prompts you can use on your phone or use the prompts to write and doodle in your journal).

20. Subscription to an online meditation app. Many of them are free, but if you purchase the paid versions, there is so much more to access. I’d highly recommend gifting a full year of an app like Calm, or Insight Timer, (2 of my favourites).

21. A Twinkling Tree. Ok…this isn’t exactly eco-friendly or sustainably made, but many “natural”, more holistically inclined women love our cozy, relaxing spaces and these are just adorable.

22. A new mala. Most women who love yoga, meditation and things like essential oils probably already have a mala…but take it from me, you can never have too many. Each one you either purchase or are gifted are special. Malas are quite the investment, but well worth it. My good friend Debbie Ducharme creates beautiful, custom malas.

23. A yearly subscription to Yoga Journal or one of her other favourite wellness magazines. I love this gift because it’s the gift that gives all year. I also enjoy gifting my magazines to others when I am all done with them.

24. A year subscription to Willow and Sage diy magazine. This one comes out quarterly and it’s an essential oil junkie’s dream!

25. A home bath collection. Stay away from purchasing bombs from the grocery or drug stores and buy yummy, more natural bath bombs from local makers. Add a body butter and some pretty hand towels while you’re at it and present them in a gorgous basket.

26. A fun holiday inspired essential oil blend. Now, don’t go signing up anywhere just so you can get your hands on high quality oils. I’d recommend simply buying a couple blends for your oil obsessed woman as a special gift. Purchase retail off sites like doTERRA or most larger centers have Saje.

If you do already have an account with a company that has oils, splurge on a limited edition holiday blend like this one. Or check out this yummy “Nutmeg Nog” blend by Saje.

29. A fresh flower subscription. Honestly, this would be wonderful. In Grande Prairie, we have Gypsy Bloom Flower Truck!

30. Cozy slippers. Here’s a list of some of the most eco-friendly slippers for those precious tootsies of yours.

31. A salt lamp. The holistic woman in your life probably already has a salt lamp, but I’m pretty sure she’d love a few more. Here are 14 of the “Weirdest, Coolest & Most Unique Himalayan Salt Lamps You Can Buy Right Now”.

32. A new yoga mat. Personally, BMat yoga mats are my all time favourite, but here’s a list to check out, (BMat is not on this list).

33. Yoga blocks and bolster. A good bolster is a wonderful investment. I highly recommend Halfmoon, a Canadian and women owned company.

34. Pretty yoga blanket in her favourite colour.

35. An aromatherapy diffuser. You see them everywhere, but a few things all aromatherapists agree on when it comes to diffusing in the home is:

Look for a diffuser with intermittent settings and diffuses appropriately for the space you are putting it in. Also, make sure it’s easy to add the water and simple to clean. When diffusers are not easy to clean and use, many people simply don’t use them.

36. At home facial spa basket. Include cleansers, scrubs, masks, facial rollers, eye masks, serum and a cute bandana.

37. A book of self care, just for mummas.

38. Home foot spa. For the top 6 in Canada, here’s a review!

39. Stove top popcorn maker. If you ditched the microwave popcorn years ago, and haven’t replaced it yet, this makes the most delicious, healthy popcorn.

40. Macrame art or hanger for a plant. Macrame is all the rage right now and there are so many creative, talented local makers. Here is Grande Prairie, we have the Knotted Ginger! Here’s her website.

41. A mindful, zen-like sign for her relaxing, meditation/prayer space. Locally, I love Little Bird Designs. Prairie Designs does amazing work as well.

42. Deep tissue massage gun was a hit around my home last year! Personally, the smaller guns are easier to handle and gentler on the hands.

43. Comfy romper! These ones from Smash + Tess are adorable…

44. A super cozy, sustainable, Candian made, comfortable hoodie or track suit. Check out Cozy Intentions.

45. Shampoo bar and conditioner plus bamboo holders.

46. A colouring book is always tons of fun, along with calms your brain and helps you relax!

47. Blume Superfood Latte Mix and a frother.

48. A tea subscription would be another one of those gifts that would give all year! I love Sama Tea. It was started by Jay and Radhi Shetty. Their blends are a blend of adaptogenic botanicals and Ayurvedic ingredients work together to balance your mental and physical health.

49. A new set of sheets. Not sure about you, but new, soft, pretty sheets are a necessity and I would love to receive these at Christmas. Here are “18 Best Eco-Friendly Bedding Brands You Can Feel Extra Good Snuggling In”

50. A bamboo bathtub tray caddy. These are really cool and perfect for the lady who loves her baths and self care routine.

Some of my favourite, local online and bricks and mortar stores that carry local makers around the Peace country:

27. Beeswax candles from a local maker. You could add a pretty plate from a local pottery maker or simply pick one up from Homesense.

28. Plant based cookbook.

If you know someone that fits this description, this may be the perfect guide to help you out this holiday season , (maybe the perfect list for you too). What’s in my guide below?

  1. A full, detailed list (below) with links to websites, businesses and reviews of items the natural lady in your life will absolutely love.

  2. A list of bricks and mortar businesses and shops here in Grande Prairie who support and carry tons of local makers items.

  3. Information regarding our own, Grande Prairie Downtown Association’s newest offering, (this is COOL).

  4. A simple pdf checklist of this entire list to save, (you may want to keep this list for yourself too), plus a qr code to scan so that you can pull up this guide for future reference. ***this page is only available if you have this link

Lastly, if you are a Grande Prairie resident, and love to support local, did you know…

The Downtown Association is now offering gift cards that are available to use anywhere in the Downtown? Yes, all the businesses, (including Anodyne Chiropractic where you can get massages, Sockwell socks, therapeutic braces, supportive athletic leggings, massages, accupuncture and of course soft tissue treatments and general chiropractic).

Sorry, that was my shameless plug for our own business, lol.

When you go to Anodyne, be sure to ask for Dr. Timmins :)

I also made a simple checklist with all 50 ideas for easy save & print!
