30 simple things we can do when we get off track…

How’s it going?

Today is a good day, but can I briefly share about a really crappy one I had last week?

(don’t worry, it’s not all gloom and doom, lol)

Last week I had a really bad day. It wasn’t really one thing that made me feel rotten, (mentally and physically), but a whole pile of things that all of a sudden felt heavy and crappy. Things had been building.

It was these 3 things, specifically:

  1. Struggling with an arthritis flare up that has hindered my mobility and is so painful.

  2. Gaining back a bunch of weight after losing it last year.

  3. The change of weather has really been bothering me, (probably because I’m getting old, lol)

I have to admit, it sucks when you feel like you’ve been doing so well, working hard, staying on track, and then all of a sudden, because you are rocking it…you let things slide and then before you know it, you’re feeling awful and a little embarassed and disappointed with yourself.

Why do we do this? And what do “they” call it?

It’s called “self sabotage” and there are many reasons we do it, (save this article and read it later if you feel like diving deeper).

And the other thing, besides analyzing everything, what if a bad day is simply a bad day?

I believe we need them every once in a while to remind us we’re human and sometimes it’s our body’s way of saying, “rest & reset, and everything will work out because it always does”.

What helps me most when I need to shift back into feeling well again?

  1. If I need to physically rest, I make myself rest, (that day I napped, which I rarely do).

  2. I remind myself, “everything always works out for me”.

  3. I also remind myself that it is ok to have a bad day, or two.

  4. I set an intention for the day, (just to get through that ONE day).

  5. My next meal or snack is healthy one.

  6. I put on my favourite, motivating music and walk the dogs.

  7. Do a brain dump of all the things to do in my business and for the home.

  8. I drink a huge glass of water and take my supplements.

  9. Grab my favourite oil blend, and diffuse it, (right now, it’s Holiday Peace).

The message today:

Go with the flow, everything always works out, on the good and bad days,

and when you feel rotten, know nothing stays the same and you are strong, beautiful, healthy, smart and awesome.

Also, focus on what you CAN do in the moment, rather than what you CAN’T.

We all have good days and yes, sometimes we need to rest. So when our body is telling us it’s tired and you’re dragging yourself and not being very productive, REST. Stop. Drink something healthy, warm and nourishing. Or maybe even drink a big glass of water! Take some energizing supplements. Perhaps jump in a warm bath. A nap could do the trick as well.

I made a list of 30 things that may help you get back on track when/if you need it. If you click on the graphic below, it will take you to my Pinterest board where you can save it.

Here it is:

So, when we’re having a bad day, a few things we can remember…

  1. Discomfort and pain is part of growing.

  2. Everything in life is temporary.

  3. Worrying and complaining changes nothing.

  4. Every struggle is a step forward.

  5. Life is full of ebbs and flows, good days and bad.

  6. Don’t compare our lives to others.

  7. Embrace change and welcome challenges.

  8. Overthinking will lead to sadness.

  9. It’s ok to let go and move on.

  10. And lastly, turn it off, shut it down, stop scrolling and take a day for yourself, (or at least an hour).
